FREE Portable and Powerful AVZ Anti-Viral Toolkit from Kaspersky
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by Yao Yuan.
If you visit this site frequently, you’ll notice that I am a big fan of Kaspersky products. They do offer a few free products such as a web based scanner where you can scan your computer for virus but no removal online, a rescue disk that you can boot in to Linux and scan your hard drive for virus using the latest 2009 engine and AVPTool for you to run an on-demand scanning and removal of virus. As for their commercial product, they have Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 to protect your computer in real-time. They also have enterprise products which I’ve never tested so I can’t tell you much about it… [...]

A Free Multi-Engine Anti-Virus Files Scanner “NoVirusThanks”
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by Yao Yuan.
Sometimes Antivirus scanner reports that a program is infected with a Virus or Trojan, even when the program is not really infected with any malicious code. This kind of problem is known as “False Positive” or “False Alert”, and it’s quite a common problem nowadays. As far as I know, when a tool or software got wrongly flagged as a threat, it is a long and tiring process for the author of the tool to get the virus makers to “fix” the false positive problem. FREE AlwaysVPN, a HotspotShield Alternative
Posted on 27. Oct, 2008 by Yao Yuan.
Internet TV is really convenient because we can watch the TV episodes whenever we want without spending hours to download a few hundreds of megabytes first. We can simple access Veoh or Hulu, search for the TV episode that we would like to watch and just stream it on our web browser. Unfortunately Veoh and Hulu has stopped streaming videos to users outside of United States. My cousin reported to me about this when Veoh started to implemented the block and I was unable to search a way to bypass that restriction from any forum or website. [...]

Hotspot Shield vpn make you allways Private and Secure

Most wireless internet service in hotels are quite expensive. I stayed a night in Cititel Midvalley last week and they are charging RM30 (US9.40) for 2 hours. I wanted an hour or maybe just half an hour to check my emails but they told me their minimum usage is 2 hours. Instead of spending RM30 just for wireless internet in my hotel room, I can actually go to Coffee Bean or Starbucks, order a cup of nice coffee and use the wireless internet there for hours!

Investigating How Kaspersky Key Finder Finds and Downloads Kaspersky Keys
Posted on 24. Oct, 2008 by Yao Yuan.
One of my reader informed me about Kaspersky Key Finder and told me that this tool is able to search for Kaspersky Key. His guess was it could somehow connect to Kaspersky’s server and download genuine keys. I didn’t really believe that Kaspersky Key Finder is capable of doing that because people would actually be selling this tool for a lot of money instead of putting it RapidShare mirrors for anyone to use. Java Remote Desktop Controls Remote Computers Across Different Platforms
Posted on 23. Oct, 2008 by Yao Yuan.
Usually when I need to remotely access a computer that is running a different operating system, I’d go for TightVNC or UltraVNC because it is free and can support multiple operating systems. There are a lot more of other remote connection software such as CrossLoop, TeamViewer, LogMeIn, VNC and etc but here’s one that is worth taking a look because it can support many operating systems. It is good to have another alternative because you may never know that one day you’ll have to stop using VNC and switch to another software.
As you can see at the image below, it is possible to remotely control a Windows Vista from Mac OSX using jrdesktop. [...]

Simple Port Forwarding is Now Free!(Normally Cost $15)
Posted on 23. Oct, 2008 by Yao Yuan.
Port forwarding has always been a headache for basic computer users. I still remembered that I had quite a tough time trying to understand what is port forwarding and how do I get it to work by configuring port forwarding in my router. If you have a direct connection to your broadband using an ADSL modem, then you don’t need to worry about Port Forwarding.
However, if you’re unsure on how to setup port forwarding for an application such as VNC or your favorite computer game, then this program called Simple Port Forwarding created by the same author as CleanMem may be able to help you. I knew about Simple Port Forwarding few months back but did not post about it because it is a shareware that cost $15. I personally don’t think that Simple Port Forwarding is not worth the money because it can only support 54 types of routers and cost money.
Good news is since version 2, Simple Port Forwarding has been released as freeware! This is definitely a great move by the author and I believe many people will start submitting their router’s screenshot to be added to the list. Let’s check it out how Simple Port Forwarding works.
